MADURAI: Madurai MP Su Venkatesan has written to the Railway Recruitment Board chairman, Chennai, to allot centres in
Tamil Nadu for the second stage examination for aspirants from the state to the post of Level 6 (station master category). He said that candidates for the examination, to be held on May 9, have been allotted centres that are as far as in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his letter to
RRB chairman Jagdish Azhagar, the MP stated that some candidates had earmarked cities in Tamil Nadu.
However, most of the candidates who applied for Southern Railway through RRB/Chennai for the second stage examination have been allotted centres in far off cities like Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, Samba in Jammu and Kashmir, Mysore, Udupi and Shimoga in
Karnataka and centres in other states.
Stating that RRB, Chennai, had notified 601 vacancies for the above said category, he added that this attracted a large number of aspirants including those from the marginal community. He said that the first stage examination held in seven phases between from December 28, 2020, to 31 July, 2021, was conducted in Tamil Nadu for all candidates from this state and raised questions over allotment in other states for the second phase of examination.
“The gravity can be understood from the fact that a disabled candidate has been provided Allahabad centre,” he said. The MP urged the RRB, Chennai, to allot centres in Tamil Nadu for all the aspirants from the state.
